| Mound Cemetery in Le Sueur |
We are an important part of the culture of LeSueur as we provide a dignified public place of disposition for those who have died in the community. We are the only public cemetery in LeSueur, while there are two church-affiliated cemeteries. Mound Cemetery was founded in 1850. The land was donated by Wallace Swan who was buried there on March 14, 1855. There are over 6000 sold gravesites in Mound Cemetery. There is adequate land available for generations to come. In recent years all cemetery roads were paved, a new maintenance shed was built and all records and maps were transferred to a computer generated system.

| The old Mound Cemetery sign, orginally part of the entry gate, was recently rediscovered. It was fully restored and returned to an honored place on the cemetry grounds on Elmwood Avenue. |

There are no membership requirements. Any lot owner can have input at our annual meeting. The Cemetery has a permanent Endowment Fund which receives gifts and bequests from estates, relatives and friends. Any gift to this fund is permanently deposited to the corpus of the fund and is under the control of a local Board of Directors. Only the interest earned from this Endowment Fund may be used for cemetery maintenance, thus assuring future generations that the cemetery will always be maintained. A beautiful cemetery setting is an honor to the deceased, a comfort to the families and a source of public pride.
