Le Sueur Chapter History
The Le Sueur Rotary celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2008! The Le Sueur Rotary Club was chartered on Tuesday, March 9, 1948. The charter dinner was held at the Le Sueur High School with 200 Rotarians and their wives from other clubs in attendance. Mankato and St. Peter were the sponsering clubs. Max M. Moore of Valley City, ND was the District Governor. Vern Baumann was very instrumental in getting the club started in Le Sueur. The new Rotary club, with 24 members, was the result of his enthusiasm. The Club has always met at noon; initially in such places as Wally Trucke's restaurant, Robinson's Cafe, and the Wilke Hotel.

Service
Le Sueur Rotarians are active in many facets of the community, as individuals and as a club, but we have not been very vocal about our activities and accomplishments so you may not easily recognize us. When we identify a need and make a commitment, we "just do it". Our objectives are met through four Avenues of Service. These are: Club Service,Vocational Service, Community Service, and International Service.
Club Service
Members work on developing and maintaining the growth of our club through membership development, fellowship, attendance, public relations, and sharing of Rotary information.

Rose Sale Fundraiser In 1992, the Le Sueur Rotary Club began a new fundraising effort by selling long-stem red roses. Each fall since, the Le Sueur Rotary Club has sold long-stem red roses to raise money to fund our projects and scholarships. This remains our only fundraising effort for the year. The annual Rotary Rose Sales provide our club with the financial resources to continue current and initiate new club projects which has had a positive impact on both the club and the community. Rose sales...
- Increase community awareness of our Club, Rotary International, and the many projects we support.
- Generate enthusiasm within our club and activities.
- Gets everyone involved; we often have 100% participation.
- Provides the money with which to work.
Roses sold for this fundraiser are top quality, long-stemmed roses grown in South America. Rotary sells red and lollipop (6 to 8 different colors in each dozen) roses. They bloom in the latter part of September and must be cut so they will bloom again for the holidays. Since there is not a great demand for roses this time of year, we are able to purchase the roses and sell them at a reasonable price. In addition to roses, Le Sueur Rotary also offers a beautiful Fall Bouquet of flowers.
